Effect of Frank Lampard being sacked on some players

The effect of Frank Lampard is expected to be given the time to turn things around though and there is hope that performances will improve in the coming weeks.

The Blues recorded back-to-back victories against Morecambe and Fulham following their 3-1 humbling against Manchester City, proving that Lampard can get a reaction from his players.

But Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester brought them back down to earth with Lampard on the brink.

Express Sport takes a look at the players who may suffer or benefit from a change in the dug-out.

Some of the players include:

EFFECT OF LAMPARD BEING SACKED: MASON MOUNT MAY SUFFER

Effect of Frank Lampard being sacked may benefit Mount. It’s clear that Mount has made enormous strides under Lampard, who he worked with at Derby in the 2018/19 season.

The Chelsea academy graduate is now one of the first names on the team-sheet but still, he has to face up to critics.

Unfairly, Mount has been labeled ‘the teacher’s pet’ for both club and country due to his exemplary attitude.

While he continues to do his talking on the pitch, it’s clear he still has some doubters.

EFFECT OF LAMPARD BEING SACKED: CALLUM HUDSON-ODIO MAY BENEFIT

Although Lampard is a big fan of Hudson-Odoi and persuaded him to sign a new bumper deal, the Chelsea boss is struggling to get the best from him.

The young winger is likely to be frustrated with his game time and his lack of opportunities.

With competition for places high, even when he does get a chance Hudson-Odoi looks like he’s playing in fear.

There’s a reason Bayern Munich tried to sign him several times and a coach like Julian Nagelsmann, who has a track record developing players, could be the ideal fit for the 20-year-old.

EFFECT OF LAMPARD BEING SACKED: TAMMY ABRAHAM MAY SUFFER

Effect of Frank Lampard being sacked may benefit Abraham, While Abraham may not be a regular, he may not be playing for Chelsea if it wasn’t for Lampard.

The striker impressed in the early stages of last season but has struggled for consistency.

There’s speculation that Chelsea could target Erling Braut Haaland and his arrival in west London could spell trouble for Abraham.

He is yet to prove that he should be Chelsea’s No 9 for years to come but there’s still time to showcase his talents.

EFFECT OF LAMPARD BEING SACKED: TIMO WERNER MAY BENEFIT

Effect of Frank Lampard being sacked may benefit Werner. Given that two of his former bosses are in the frame for the job in the form of Nagelsmann and Hasenhuttl, Werner may welcome change.

Not only that but based on his first few months in the Premier League, his move to Chelsea hasn’t lived up to its billing.

Werner looks a shadow of his former self and is starved of confidence.

Lampard is struggling to get the best from him and it’s starting to take its toll on Werner, no matter how hard he tries.

There’s still a top player in there and Chelsea needs to unlock him as soon as possible, as he has the quality to turn their season around.

EFFECT OF LAMPARD BEING SACKED: ANDREAS CHRISTENSEN MAY SUFFER

Although Christensen has fallen out of favor since the arrival of Thiago Silva, Lampard still appears to have a soft spot for him.

The Dane has rarely performed in recent times and has failed to live up to the promise he showed at the start of Antonio Conte’s second season at the club.

Yet still, Chelsea doesn’t seem to be willing to let him move on and much of that, is down to Lampard who still sees him as a part of his plans.

EFFECT OF LAMPARD BEING SACKED: KEPA MAY BENEFIT

Effect of Frank Lampard being sacked may benefit Kepa. While Kepa has hardly helped himself with his performances, it’s been a sad demise for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

There were shades of David de Gea’s early Manchester United days in his first two seasons at the club but now he has lost his place to Edouard Mendy.

While Mendy has been reasonably solid, Chelsea is set to lose mega-money on the £71million they paid for the Spaniard.

A change of manager, who boosts his confidence and offers him a chance to turn things around could pay off.
